Just what are those green dots surrounding the brown dots that make up Link's eyes? Are they irises (in which case the brown represents Link's pupils, which is different than the artwork for that particular Zelda game, which shows Link to have brown irises), a green opaque part of the eye, green eyebrows, or something more mysterious?

I'd be forced to believe that They're eyebrows. My reasoning is that if they were pupils, they are above but not below links pupils, which makes me believe that he is looking down, as the pupils would be covering the Iris below his pupils. ..yeah.

Thinking about the subject more, and blankly staring at the picture of Link all over the website some more, I've come to a few conclusions:

1) Gold, in Link's world, is actually green. I conclude this by his sword hilt being mostly green.

2) Link is naturally blonde, which is actually green, in his world.

3) Link tries to hide the fact that he's blonde by dyeing his hair brown, but he forgets to dye his eyebrows, which are green.

This brings up some more interesting (pointless) topics, like...

Why would Link dye his hair?

Is Luigi also blonde, in the picture of him used in this forum?

..Or it could be the one large pupil thing, with the pupil doing that reflection thing that makes it a different color in one spot.

Maybe it is not a metal hilt but made of something green that Link could grip better? Remember, it is a wooden sword, why would they make the sword wood but the hilt metal?

First, I didn't know it was wood. I just thought it was crappy metal. But doesn't the Master Sword look the same way?

Also, since Link seems to love the color green so much, maybe he's just wearing green eyeshadow.

I don't know... so far, my favorite theory is the gold = green theory. That one just opens up so many possibilities, like you said.

It's a good theory, agreed..just..doesn't hold up very well. She got the green=gold theory from the fact that the hilt was green. Where is it said that all hilts are and must be gold? I know this was just for fun, it still is..I just HAD to say that..really, I just couldn't help myself.

It doesn't say that, but, looking at the artwork from the game, Link doesn't use a green-hilted sword, he has a gold-hilted one and the closest thing to green would be gold, and gold swords are.. very common, in Zelda games.

Oh, sure, there's a little hole here and there in the theory. But, that's beside the point. The real question is why did he dye his hair in the first place? What else was changed about him? Is he rich (his clothes are gold, afterall)? Does money literally grow on trees, then, but in the form of gold? Or are they just gold colored?

Sure, I didn't say it would be bad..just..might be wrong. Then again, it could all be different shades of grey to them, but colorful to us because..well, we have these Iris things, and pupils..and retina, and..they're..2D, well..are made of pixels..well, yes, I think I'll go with..green is green though.

Another possibility--Link has green eyes and he's crying! And tears are not the same color as water (which is blue, in their world), but they're brown! Does this mean their tears are mud? Or maybe sea water is blue and real water is brown to them, clear in our world? Hmmm....

I like the crying theory, it makes sense with the story. A reason they could be dark brown is that the tears are a dark transparent shade that is darkening the skin under it. This also could be why his lips are the same color.

I always thought that Link didn't have lips, his mouth was just constantly open, in awe of what a great hero he is.

Nah, I think he just has huge lips. Imagine how parched he would be if his mouth were always open, especially in the desert climate through which he must travel at times.

I've recently made a new discovery. Luigi's eyes ALSO happen to be green, along with his mustache, hair, and some of his clothes. This leads me to believe that they are both in some sort of green cult. (Or..are sharing drugs with eachother..) But either way..is there some sort of..alliance between Link and Luigi?!

Ah, yes..very possible, but which is a higher rank, the darker..or lighter? I'd have to go with the darker, as link is quite new to The Mushroom Kingdom, and Luigi is very familiar with the area (And possibly more hateful towards his brother Mario)

I belive the green dots are his eyes. Since his eyes are so big, they cast a shadow below his eyes, which is the dark part under the green spot.

Ok lets look at the facts. Zelda is 8 bit (meaning that there can only be 64 colors (am i right on this?)) So, in order to have a more colorful scernery they decided to use only 3 colors for link and they could get away with it.

Hmmmm eyes on top of the eyebrows...never thought of that one. I always thought that the green thing was his eyes and he just had large sags under them, but when you get a closeup of Link, they look like eyebrows.

And no, I didn't get the large sags under his eye's from Hex's post on the first page.
