I sort of figured that I should post a new topic. Anyway..Free the goombas from their Tyrannical dictator bowser! The Goombas are a peace-loving people, and are quite pacifistic, as you can see by the way they don't actually attack mario. They have a disadvantage when mario attacks them, too. They can't turn! At least not very well..and by the time they start to...MARIO POUNCES! Now I will say that it's not entirely marios fault, as he doesn't know anything about goombas, and doesn't understand their Goomba-talk. Spread the message, FREE THE GOOMBAS!!

As representative of the Goomba King, I will say that the goombas are very misunderstood. You see, they do not ever attack Mario and friends with the intent to harm, they are only overly zealously greeting their saviour. They wish for freedom from their slave labour of pacing back and forth and frowning mindlessly, and in their enthusiasm run up to Mario and latch on with their tiny, parasitic fungi teeth. They don't understand it when he kicks them off and smashes their spongy heads in. So please, don't hurt the goombas.

As a representative myself, (FGN: Free Goombas Now) I would be forced to agree, though the parisitic teeth latching may be going a bit too far, as mario may mis-interpret it as an attack..which of course it isn't (..Although I haven't actually seen any evidence of these teeth, or attacks) Which is why we MUST free them. They should be freed, and accepted as members of the mushroom kingdom, they do, in fact..look quite similar to mushrooms themselves.

Yes! But, unfortunately, the goombas are looked down upon in the Mushroom Kingdom, for their lack of arms, spots, and large unibrow. The other mushrooms are quite prejudice, and don't view these humble fellahin people as being worthy of living in their cities and sharing their hallucinogens. Spread the tolerance, and feed the Goombas!

Yes..sad, but true..the goombas ARE looked down upon, and judged. The goombas have been reduced to living in the streets, wandering aimlessly back and forth. Stricken with poverty, and hunger..these goombas have little choice but to listen to their dictator or be starved, or worse..stomped upon. This is why we here at FGN (Free Goombas Now!) have recently been working on a new shelter, specifically built to accomidate the goombas. The food is free, and set on low tables, so that the short, armless goombas can have easy access to them. If you have any spare time, please volunteer at the Free Goombas Now Goomba Relief Center. Goombas are mushroom people, yes. However, they've chosen to betray their people and serve King Bowser. This cannot be tolerated! The Mushroom Kingdom must help vanquish these treasonous piles of Shroom!

Now the Koopa Troopas... they are the real victims here. They lived their whole lives under Bowser's tyranny, just because they were born to a family of turtles instead of mushrooms. Koopas couldn't pick who their parents would be any more than you or I could. Their heritage isn't their fault!

The Koopas are truly the oppressed ones. They fight for Bowser because they fear that their families will be raped and pillaged mercilessly if they don't. Bah! As I am no expert on the Koopas themselves, I cannot offer any oppinions on them. However..I am a representative of the Goombas, and know for a fact that they would, and have never betrayed the people of The Mushroom Kingdom. Contrary to what you have said, the Goombas never went freely, their king and loved ones were kidnapped, and threatened with death unless the Goombas helped King Koopa! I don't think the real issue here isn't which of the two is worth freeing more, but rather that all of the opressed victims of King Koopas tyranny must be freed!

And also tell me, who're the ones conducting air attacks? Just look at level 1-3. The Goombas, unable to live with their forced slavery anymore, walk right off of cliffs in an attempt to end the misery. But the Koopa Troopas march and fly back and forth, proudly displaying their militant might.

King Bowser and the Koopa Troopas are close friends, and partners in oppressing the little people (Goombas).

Charybdis: Troopa isn't part of their name, it's more like a title that denotes military service, like Soldier or Marine.

The Koopas aren't vile, but they do believe in self-defense. Koopas need to protect themselves from the Goombas and their bum-biting teeth. Koopas are cowards at heart; they'd rather curl up in their shells than be bitten or otherwise oppressed.

Look at their faces. Goombas always look mean-spirited, while Koopas actually look cheerful. They see Mario (or Luigi) and are happy that their rescuers have come!

In 1-3, the Koopas are flying because they want to get away from the ground-borne Goombas. They are trying to fly to safety. Unfortunately, they are only learning to master their wings, so they aren't very successful at getting away.

Truly heartbreaking.

Me: They aren't actually saying "BLAH", it's just that Luigi doesn't understand what they are saying, because he's actually French (more on this in another thread). To Luigi, the words the others are saying are meaningless, much like "BLAH" itself.

first, you don't understand the language of the goombas, because you seem to know nothing about them. Second..you're making things up about the goombas, and you know it, from what we know of witnessing the acts of the game, AND the comic..we know that the koopas are willingly attacking mario, whereas the goombas..are asking link to kill them..hmm.... Third..you didn't HEAR anything..because you aren't in mushroom kingdom, and they..aren't actually speaking.

And as a representative, and personal friend of the goombas, I can tell you they ARE peaceloving. (as everything I have said has been based upon the comic, and the game. >.<)

That particular Goomba asked to be killed because he was in a hole and couldn't get out. Who knows how long he's been there? It's my guess that the first two Goomba's threw him in there as a joke, then realized they couldn't get him out. See? Mean-spirited.

If you claim to know the language better than I, why don't use translate, then? I'm sure the Forum would love to hear your interpretation!

As for Koopas willingly attacking Mario and Link, I disagree. They just wanted to kill the elf. Link's sword is reminiscent of King Bowser's spikes, so naturally they're going to be upset. Only reason they wanted Mario is because he was with Link.

Besides, do you honestly think that a supposedly vile and militant race would play Charades? I highly doubt it.

Also...

In #2, they aren't speaking English, Shroomanese, or Turtlespeak. They're speaking Hyrulian. That's why we can't understand them.

And for the record, we can understand their speech in the LoZ game because of the power of the Force. Only the Creator can decide when and how the Force will affect things here, though.

Even vile and militant races need forms of amusement, especially evil, tortorous and horrendous ones, such as Charades.

Oh, and about Link and Zelda speaking Hyrulian... In OoT, wasn't there something about Link couldn't speak Hylian because he didn't grow up with the Hylians, and he needed the Fairy to translate? Might be somewhat wrong about that, and that might not necessarily apply to this game since they don't give much about Link's background, but still.

Charades, why? They're stupid, they BARELY even noticed that link was on the ground during the first round of charades..and they DIDN'T until the second or third round. And it's not what luigi is hearing, it's just him saying..WHAT?! because they're all saying..blah. and the goomba was NOT put in the hole by the other two goombas that can't climb, he was placed there by bowser, obviously. and there is no goombaspeak to translate yet, they're all saying "Blah." Link's sword is NOT reminiscent of the spikes, anybody can see that. And if they are so fond of mario, they would realize that Link must have made a mistake and can't be that bad because he's with their hero, mario! Why try to kill your hero because he's with an unknowing Link?

In #2 they aren't speaking Hyrulian, they're saying blah, probably used as filler.... Anyway..why switch from Hyrulian to english just to say "What the..?" ..You wouldn't, and I DOUBT this force power let us understand it. I didn't say they are all speaking Hyrulian. The point is, they weren't speaking French, which is Luigi's native language. Why should the Creator make up words to represent what they're actually saying, when Luigi wouldn't be able to understand them anyhow?

I have, just play Paper Mario. There is a lot of diffrent Goombas and they talk too. As you go through the game you can tell they are forced to work etc. so, free the goombas!

I think the goombas and most koopas are equaly oppresed. The only ones who arent oppresed are the red koopas. Thats why you never see them commiting suicide. (Jumping off cliffs)

Hmmm... maybe goombas Are the evil ones, to some extent. Sure, baby bowser didnt have power, but the Koopas still feared and respected him so theres the possibility of them being forced into it (by a magikoopa.. so still questionable)..
But the Goombas.. in the far away land of Koholint, Link would have to battle goombas sometimes, but bowser would not have any influence there.. but does that really count since Koholint turned out to be *heart breaks:(* a dream?

Let me say this now, Goomba are like Mets, but not as cute. Simply 1 directional cliff falling annoyences. Koopas are the kool(yes I did it with a K) and cuter than Goombas, they are harder to kill and can fly-jump-different colour etc. So anyone who REALLY likes Koopas better than Goombas raise you ha.....say 'Aye'

Yes, Thank you Talon. Although a part of my despises you for your incredible number of posts, the other part of me is gald that I have someone so verbose on my side. Certainly, the Goombas are evil traitors, and the Koopas are noble creatures that are oppressed by Bowser's powerful magic.

Please help these poor souls understand that Koopas are the only Marioworld "bad guys" that should be given any consideration? Well, not the only ones, but certainly the most notable, and should be the first priority.

Anyhow, thanks for helping to keep this old topic alive! Such an important facet of the daily lives of us all should not be ignored. The dust should be knocked off and the plight of the Koopas revived at every opportunity!

One thing still puzzles me.. the goombas have only two 'forms', goombas and paragoombas, unless you count brown white and blue goombas as seperate.. Yet for Koopas, you have the Koopas, Super koopas, parakoopas, koopa troopas, chargin chucks (those are koopas, right?), hammer brothers, skeleton koopas, red blue and green and yellow variations, buzzy beetls (would they be part of that family of turtles?) and so forth and so forth..

sure, it is possible to say that maybe not all koopas are evil, or not all goombas are bad, and we are only fighting those who are evil while there is a whole world out there of good koopas and goombas dedicated to the mushroom kingdom, but then why do koopas have so many different branches of their military, unless they are more dedicated to the eradication of mushrooms than goombas are? something to think about

We are forgetting about the terrorist group that King Koopa leads: the Bob-Omb! Yes! The Bob-Omb is a secret terrorist group under the influience of King Koopa! They're running around with the ability to commit suicide when they feel they can harm the members of the mushroom kingdom the most! We must unite Koopa and Goomba alike if we wish to truely get rid of the evil in the Mushroom Kingdom!

Yes, ever notice how the goomba has enlarged teeth? Those clearly show that it thrives on meat (AKA, Humans as we are!) That, ladies and gentlemen, is NOT a good thing! As said, (Very very far back on this thread of ours, that we are currently reading, or, as I am posting it) Goombas dislike their sighting of our hero, Mario! Koopas, however, are quite happen to see Maro, and flee to him as fast as they can!!

Now, we must destroy Bowser, and prove that our Koopas, while not being brutally abused, are very nice, loving creatures, and should be cherished in all of our hearts!

I say Ni to you sir! The truely oppressed race in the Mushroom Kingdom is the Bullet Bill! Think about it, they get SHOT OUT OF A CANNON! What did they do to deserve such a fate as that? Sure, it LOOKS like they are smiling, but in reality, they come out of the cannon so fast that thier lips are curled back from velocity! I cannot believe that a tiny Goomba is more important the Bullet Bill! The protectors, and opressees, of The Mushroom Kingdom!!

Thank you Shadic.If you like, you can join Major General Mario in the recruiting office! Yes, that means the Mario has been promoted (for those that, for some reason, thought it suitable to read the entire thread).

The Koopa race is vast and diverse. They are kind, gentle, and docile. It is this latter quality that Bowser finds most attractive in the Koopas. They have a very structured society, which is the source of their docilience (or docile-ness, for those that can not read made up words). The Order of the Koopa civilization must be restored!

Buzzy Beetle is not a part of the Koopa race, but they have coexisted peacefully for a very long time. In fact, it was the Koppa armorsmiths that helped Buzzy Beetle's shell become fireproof. Indeed, the races have a very close working relationship. It is because of this that Bowser generally does not post the Buzzy Beetles and the Koopa Troopas on the same levels. Buzzy Beetles are not as docile as Koopas, and tend to be more rebellious when the opportunity arises.

The Buzzy Beetles serve Bowser because they could not meet their side of a trade agreement with Bowser, and so some of them were bound for service in him military. They don't want to be there, but won't abandon their posts because they have a high sense of honor. However, there would be nothing wrong with them inspiring the Koopas to rebel, and that is why they are kept on separate levels.

Bullet Bill serves Bowser because that is the only master they have ever known. Bowser's blacksmiths created the race of Bullet Bills for service, and they serve their purpose. In this sense, they are not really oppressed, but rather they are living the life they were meant to live. I cannot claim to know if they require saving, but I know for certain that the Koopas must be rescued!

So now, the war starts again. Death to Goombas! Save the Koopas!

I don't care about anything other than Koopas! They are so cool, and peaceful, and they challenge Mario to races(M64, anyone?). Goombas, they jump in shoes and get shot from cannons! They walk into Mario somehow hurting him, they are EVIIIIIIIIL.


Anybody who sides with Goombas over Koopas is on the wrong side of this battle. King Koopa makes Goombas look innocent by having them pace to and fro, but makes Koopas look bad, he gives them wings, makes them jump, gives them shells for protection, and makes them swim too. Koopas are being driven by slave-labour I tell you.

So far I witness Sabin and Shadic as Koopa allies, I join their alliance and defend the Koopa race(But not their King, which is another thing which makes Koopas look bad)!

Ummm... Talon check SMB3 there are plenty of Paragoombas and mini-goombas in bricks. I'm not siding with them or anything I'm just merely proving a point. And then, there is the Koopa Super Mario World. If a naked Koopa goes into a yellow shell nothing can stop it but Yoshi. It even kills all of the other Bad-Guys. And if Yoshi eats it He gains the ability to create earthquakes flying and firespitting. So I think they are both hiding some deep dark secret. But if you look at Pirahna plants they come in about 40 shapes, colors and sizes. If you want I can even name them.

Another thing that makes Koopas look bad, different colours. They do that because they feel threatened. How should they know a red koopa going into a yellow shell will go berserk, or a green on in a blue shell(only in SNES).

You koopa supporters are fools.The goombas are truly the oppressed ones.Koopas are the truly evil ones.You see goombas aren't born evil. Although they may look it. You see, when bowser was concouring he found the goomba. At the time he looked at the sheer number of them. He found that even though they were very bad fighters that they were extendible.Then he started the Goomba's training plan. The plan works like this.As soon as the goombas are born they are infected with rabies by a koopa led force. then any goomba with any ounce of sanity left is taken to a torture chamber where they are abused by koopas in mario suits until they go insane. Then they are dropped by plane to where they are meant to pace. Sometime the koopas even drop them into the bottomless pits that are in the mushroom kingdom. We must stop this horrible tragidy by supporting your local SOG (save our goombas) to try to bring some insane goombas back to their right minds.

If I ever learn to do Flash, I'll make a series based on a hero known as Goomba Killa. Yeah, not an original name, I know. Anyway, here's the plot.

The Koopas are being oppressed by Bowser. Mario was on the way to the rescue, but a goomba touched the axe and down into the pit of lava Mario went. After Toad heard of this, he decides to avenge him and save the koopas for him. He is now know as Goomba Killa.

So the goombas are evil because they are less evolved? It is exactly that kind of racist imperialistic thinking that break the goombas heart. If such point was the case, then it is more likely the Higher evolved of the species would take advantage of their streangths over the weaker of the species.

Sure, koopas may be predatoring over the goombas, but that is only because they are a Parasite! they crawl into Koopa shells while the koopas are away, then lay eggs in them. When the koopa evolves into a flying koopa, the goomba eggs hatch and the larvae eats its host completely, assuming its wings.

The Koopa Kids have been gloriously slain by the Overalled one, so they're involvement in the Goomba Slave Trade have become naught. The bat-things transport them across different regions of the Mushroom Kingdom and other lands when goomba wings are hard to come by.
Blaargs (blarggs? blarrgs? blaarrggsses??) keep watch and make sure they dont escape by sea.
Occasionally a band of renigade Koopas would gather leather and unused magik from the Koopa's storage facilities and fashion a Kuribo's Shoe for them to step over Blaargs and escape through to search out Mario and beg for his help. Mario, though, unable to comprehend the complex yet beautiful Goomba tongue, and the Goomba's tongue being inside the shoe due to their shortness anyways, mistakes the advanced technology and advances as a threat and destroys them, stealing their shoes and continuing on, the oppression of them continuing.

So pick up that phone and call now, because in some far off land, Goombettes (are that what theyre called? the tiny mini-goombas?) are working in some garment factory building Kuribo's Shoes, and your 8 cents can make a difference

I have discovered something terrible! I saw a koopa's shell altered to look like mario's head! Then I saw one of those pokeys that had been geneticaly altered to look like some sort of machine! And then I saw these bird replacing bullet bills! I also saw these pale things that looked like some sort of mutation of a goomba! Koopa's wearing Mario Face painted Shells?! Mecha-Pokies?! Pumpkin Parahna Plants?!
This does not bode well.. It could only mean that the evil Rogue Nations of Koopas, under their demonic King Bowser II has bought Mario off and are forming an army with him to fully eradicate the Mushroom Kingdom and their Goomba population!
It is only through the combined black magic of Magikoopas plus the engeneering and plumbing skills (no comment >_> ) that Mecha-pokies have become a possible weapon of war.. Koopas with mario shelled uniforms.. That does not bode good. If they bear his sign on their shells, he must have done something in return.. Ah, so that wasn't a "vacation" he wanted on Isle Delphino.. It was training with new Koopa technology F.L.U.D.D.S's! Is mario's plan to send Koopa Storm Troopa's with his face out to ravage the Mushroom Kingdom of its wealth, the flood out the dissidents? How evil has our hero become! Especially more sinister using Mecha-Spikeys as seige weapons O_O No fungus could survive one of those >.<
An invasion of that magnitude with Mario's assistance would completely anniahlate the Goomba population. Sure, some may be on Bowser's side, but only because they seek a better life. Throughout history, Goombas have been on the bottom of the Mushroom Kingdom Social Caste. On the top if the Princess, then the Chancelors, then the Marios, then the retainers.. on the very bottom of the caste system are the untouchables, the Goombas. Treated as bad as eta, it is no wonder a minority choose to immigrate elsewhere for equality, but why must those who remain be punished as well..

A Goomba History

Throughout history, Goombas have been oppressed and denied citizenship. Exiles of thier land and Forced into mercinary work for Bowser's Koopas, most have become nothing more than slaves under these oppressive turtles (theres an oxymoron for you) and building monuments in Bowsers name. One day, after plagues of Para-Beetles, etc, the Goombas fled their oppressors to their promised land and lived in relative peace for some time, warring with the neighboring Koopa nations for stability.

Cut forward to recent years.. While Mario and Luigi were fighting wars against Herr Bowser, the Goombas that remained in the lands under Bowser's controll were oppressed still. Stomped on by the thousands, no one would help them. Eventually, the Goombas survived and formed their own Goomba State around the lands they used to occupy so long ago. Unfortunatly, that land is now infested with Koopas, and constant fighting between Goomba and Koopa continue to this day.

Dont let the anti-Goombaisms continue. Support the cause and help defend these peoples against their overpowering turtles. In the end, after all, we are All mushrooms, all of us fungi connected in the same roots.
