I would have to say Link. Mario just doesn't have as many gadgets at his disposal at any given time. Also if Mario were to try that jumping/stomping crap in Hyrule, I have a feeling he'd be returning to the mushroom kingdom in a bodybag.

You know, everything else aside, you make one good point. Link does have a lot of gadgets. We've only seen him use bombs though...I wonder if we'll see more of that stuff, like the boomerang and arrows and stuff.

Well, Link can run too. And when his health is full and he has the master sword in most games he can shoot fire-sword thingies. Not to mention arrows and bombs and his boomberang, and occasionally a hookshoot.

Link has a shield to avoid the fire. Mario could counter with his ability to turn into a raccoon as in SMB3, but Link could shoot him out of the sky. Mario could turn into a statue as in SMB3 and Link could destroy the statue with a bomb. If Mario gets a star than Link can keep him at arms length with his spin-cut attack. Plus how is Mario going to ward off any of the magic attacks from Link from the NES version?

There is no room for tallent in a battle with Link, Mario is too disadvantaged.

Well see, that's abut as imature as some of my earlier posts. But let's not be personal. Why shouldn't Link be more talented? Link had to learn how to shoot arrows, and boomerangs, and pyrotechnics, and Magic, and that takes a certain amount of talent, not to mention skill. Mario had to learn to shoot fireballs and jump. I think that comparison speaks for itself.

Who would know Mario better than his own brother, Luigi? And here we have Luigi himself (see above post) attesting to Mario's lack of skill, relative to Link's abundance of skill. Beside that, notice how Mario had to keep rescuing "fake" princesses, always thinking she was in a castle that she wasn't in? Link never had to deal with being wrong about who to rescue... I think this kind of implies something, don't you?

Oh, but don't forget on the SNES that Link made an error in rescuing the girl in the (5th dungeon darkside?). Who could have known that by exposure to sunlight she would shoot fire and make her heads fly about.

Well...you make good arguments. Maybe I just think Mario is better because I grew up playing Mario games. (Sadly, I haven't played all of them...) Ah, but here's my new argument: Mario jumps when you want him to. Link does not. Link only jumps when it's needed. How fun is that? NOT VERY.

...and I just realized that that probably has more to do with more recent games, but oh well.

Yeah in a lot of Zelda games there was something called Roc's Feather you could use to jump. There were even profile straight on 2D underground things highly reminiscent of Mario because you had to jump over lava and stuff.

My point is that Link used to be able to jump on demand.

Mario wins because he can jump on Link. Link can't swing his sword up or tilt his sheild up. Therefore Link would be killed.

Of course Link can jump with the roc's feather, but first you have to find it. Meaning Link cannot jump on his own, proving that Mario is more skilled. The only way Link might win is because he has all those fancy, high priced gadgets.

Meken, please refer to comic #'s 2, 3, 9, 11, several others I wont mention, and especially 79. 79 shows very clearly he can use his weapon in an upward direction.

P.S. I realize this may be considered apocryphal evidence. To those of you who would claim such a thing--How could you claim such an evil thing of Link & Friends! Surely, this comic IS valid evidence. Right? Right????

But Link STILL isn't as skilled as Mario. He still needs those gadgets. It doesn't change the fact that Link relies on his weapons and would be dead if he misplaced them.

Link IS the gadgets. Without gadgets there is no Link. Therefore, I think it is best to think of Link as having everything already, just like it's best to think of Samus as having everything already. In fact, on that same note, let's think of Mario as being Super and with Fire, even though he is not in the comic.

Exactly my point. If Link didn't have anygadgets (like Mario) he'd be helpless. If Mario had all of Link's gadgets (i.e the boomerang, bombs, sword, shelid, etc.) he would be unstopable.

Not only does Link have all the fancy gadgets, but he also knows how to use them. Any dummy can jump and stomp, but it takes skill and know-how to use the advanced tools as Link does. Therefore, Link is the smarter of the two, and would certainly be victorious if the playing field were even.

Link only raised his sword upwards by CHANCE. If that egomanic wasn't celebrating his victory, he would of died.

Link never trained with the objects, he merely uses them. With the bow, it's all dumb luck.

Think of this, though... In Legend of Zelda, he has four sides from which he can be attacked. In SMB, Mario can be attacked from front, back, bottom, top. So it's even, on that front.

Never in his 8-bit life could Mario do a flip. I'm not saying that you're wrong, because I agree that Mario is more mobile than Link, if even on a different spacial axis.

But a flip? Mario's a plumber, not a Kung-Fu Master...

Link never jumped until AOL, and that was in a entirely different viewpoint.

So, by the same way of thinking, Mario could do a flip, as showing in SM64 and SMS, but never did it.

And what about flying? Just because Mario never found the Raccon Leaf/Cape Feather, doesn't mean that if he theoretically found them, he couldn't use them?

And what about the Invisablity/Flying/Metal caps? If he found them, could he use them? Probably so. I'll make a animation of that as soon as I get home.

The fact that Mario can't do a flip aside, which of course he can't, the animation only shows Mario dodge Link's attack, not kill/defeat him. The logical thing any Zelda player would do at the end would be to just stab Mario. If Mario tried to jump on Link, the obvious thing for Link to do would be to stab in an upward motion, which Mario could not dodge. Also there are plenty of other ways Link could have killed/defeated Mario there. For example, he could have thrown the boomerang instead of the arrows. Mario would dodge it, land, say, "You missed me," and then get hit by the boomerang on it's return.

Link can also flip in OoT, and I think he flips in LA too.

If, as your animation suggests, Link can grow big (by use of a mushroom?), then he would also be able to use the tail, metal cap, wing cap, invis cap, etc..

Therefore, we're talking about two completely evenly-matched people, who will either never win, or kill each other.

Your animation STILL didn't show Mario kill Link. Link just wouldn't be stupid enough to let Mario jump on him, he could just stab Mario as he fell on him. Or run out of the way and stab at him when he hit the ground. I wish I could animate it.

Well, all I have to say is Link may not be half as good as his original form, but as AOL Link, he can do all sorts of things, swordplant, upperstab(overhead defense) jump higher, double his armor and more. But Megaman is the best! Hahaha

Anyway, Mega Man could QUICKLY waste away Link AND Mario. In fact, in my guest comics, I'm making Mega Man Luigi's right-hand man. Erm, Luigi is better, though. Link is a coward. You know what. I am sick of this shit. Link would win easy. Even if mario where to shoot fire balls or throw koopa shells. Link would deflect them by using his hyrulian shield, deku shield, or any shield for the koopa shell and a hyrulian shield or his bow and arrow to shoot the fireball back at mario which would create a fire arrow and burn mario's bitch ass. If mario were to jump Link would either move out of the way, shoot him in the air with an Arrow (freeze him with the Ice Arrow and when he hits the ground and would shatter in a million pieces), slice him upward with the sword using the Half Moon Slice techinque, or use Din Fire to burn him so he would go 30 feet in the air and slice him once he come down or if he fly down with the Raccoon Suit knock the shit out of him senceless with the Boomerang and crack his head open with the Megaton Hammer or brutaly beat the hell out of him with his fists, slice him with his Sword, jump up and down on him with the Iron Boots, or shove a Bomb down his throught throat and watch the fireworks go off. If he where to grab a star then slice him and kill him with the sword. Then star only kept him from being touched and dying (Which is very pitiful) but, he would be slice in half with a Sword which would kill him. If he Mario were to lure him into a pit (which most likely wouldn't happen) he would come out by using his Hook Shot, Grapling Hook, or reappear out of the hole cause he has heart containers which is his life but, one quarter (1/4) of one of his hearts would be gone. Then he would kill Mario. If Mario were to fly away Link would shoot him down. If Mario where to turn into a statue (which is useless) Link would crush him with his Megaton Hammer or blow him up with a Bomb. Face it Mario would NEVER win Link has 20 Heart Containers so Mario would have to hit him over 80 or 100 times and Mario only needs 1 or 2 hits to die. Link would kill you so easily. Link's the Winner!

Well, Lazy Koopa, Link can get a Magical Shield that can deflect fireballs and you never seen Mario get the Fire Flower on here so how could he burn Link. Also, Link has hearts that resemble his life so how could Mario kill Link if Link has more strenght then Mario, all Mario needs is 1 or 2 hits to die. And if Mario were to jump in the air Link would shoot him down with arrows, jump up there and slice his bitch ass, or wait till he falls down and Link would hold his Sword up in the air then, Mario would have a sword stuck up his ass and that what I'd like to call the mario shishkabob Techinque. Link will kick Mario's ass easily!

A while back someone named Shadic posted a comic that was to fast to read. On it it showed that when link held out his piece of the triforce he turned big. That wouldn't happen, when all three pieces of the triforce are put together the gods will have no choose but to come down and grant whoever touches the triforce whatever they desire. This is for the people who don't know.

Just download a GIF editor and get pictures of the charachters moving every little bit. This is probaly the easy way to make animated comics but the editors are hard to find. So you usally get pissed off and give up but don't just keep searching it's worth it!

Zero is better than Megaman X, so due to default, equivelentcy, coincedence and coolness, Link is better than Mario. Besides, the two(Zero/Link) can do the same things roughly, so Link is obviously the better of the two(Mario/Link)...

Link has a tool that can counter all of Mario's attacks. exs:
Mario's firepower, Link uses mirror shield
Mario's normal form, Link uses.. well, Anything
Super mario, Link would use a sword or anything like that. no offenses x_X
If the feather is used by Mario, a fire arrow would get rid of that cape.
The all-powerful starman invincibility cant be beat, but if Link uses then the cane, or the invisible cape, or the magic armor, and it becomes a waiting game, the time limit for marios would end before link's.

So no matter what Mario does, Link would be able to counter. Unless of course it was a water battle, or Link brought in Yoshi...

so the scenario is Mario turns into statue, link tosses mario over cliff, mario flies back out? What if Link shot a fire arrow to the suit, burning the material?
