I agree. SoM is great. It's a zelda-style game where you don't have turn based fighting (which I completely despise). Wish more games would follow the SoM/Zelda style.

And can we PLEASE start using the categories! This should have been in Video Games.

there is another game with a style like it, only played it once though(sigh) it belonged to a friend of mine, anyways, it is called secret of evermore. and instead of having three human looking creatures, it has 2 humans and a dog.

I hate to say it, but Secret of Evermore had ONE human and a dog.

And yes, both that and secret of mana were good games, I do enjoy the actiony battles, but..I still don't see what's wrong with turn based. :/

I need a new quote..

It takes tons of time to go to the whole battle screen thing (unexpectedly, because you're walking in a damned field and didn't SEE any enemies anywhere, and it usually interrupts you while you're in the middle of something), then fight one at a time (which in itself is just weird), then get a little "YOU WIN!" song, and be told how much exp you earned (very slowly), then receive some prizes, and be asked if you want to heal...

It's just very repetitive and makes having to level up lots or explore a dungeon where you go into a battle sequence every 2 steps seem like it's not worth it. Games where they mix it up some with new things added to the turn-based stuff are kind of fun though, like Chrono Trigger.

Tons of time..? It takes what, half a second to get to the actual battle? And as for doing other things..doing what, walking? On to fighting one at a time.. It's called spells/skills that hit multiple enemies. >.> Next. The You Win thing? Positive reinforcement. :D

And I don't know which game you're talking about, but all the ones I've played you can pretty much ZOOM through the items you got and experience you've earned, and I've NEVER seen it ask if you want to heal.

Repetetive..yeah, I guess. But even the action ones are repetetive, you can't deny that. Leveling up is a part of RPG games by the way.
And yes, I do agree that adding some stuff to the turn based is good, however..I don't see much of a difference between the turn based combat in a game such as >.> Final Fantasy 6 when compared to the combat in Chrono Trigger, except for the double and tripple techs..which were awsome, but either way, every game is going to have something good that another game doesn't (..usually)
And either way you look at it, Chrono Trigger was turn based.
