Now, this is something that has crossed all of our minds.

What exactly?

The future and present of gaming, as compared to the golden age of gaming back when Nintendo was fighting full force with Sega, when people discussed and fought over which video game hero, (Mario or Sonic) would win in a full-out fight!

Discuss this here.

Sony and Microsoft are evil, Evil machines.

I prefer the old style of gaming, when video games were judged on content and playability, and not graphics and cut scenes

Yes,I argee.Plus old games didn't hurt my eyes.So many colors..
I'm stuck in a world that does not exist
There are people, but they are not real
They speak for hours, yet don't say a word
Their lives are right here yet they have no life
They're isolated,yet connected to all
We're always in this place, but not really there at all
All we see is a blinding light, we never hear a call
What am I to do
When I'm stuck in a world that does not exist
Left with a pain that is all but bliss.

Old > New.

Although I absoluty love the Bemani series...

But in a general sense, the old times of video games blows the new times clear.

Remember those times? When rehashed sports games wasn't what was popular?

I like good, fun games. I really don't give a crap when it's from.

For example, Chrono Trigger for the SNES is just a fun as Wind Waker for the GameCube.

I should actually go play some more CT...

Old. Old games actually were creative. New games are just old games with pretty graphics. Yeah it's nice to look at and the games can have more added to them with better processors, but it's still the same stuff. Now and then you actually get a gem, but usually not.

The 64 marked the downfall of gaming.

Had Nintendo stayed with Sony's idea of a disk system (N64 days) Sony wouldn't of ever made the playstation.

If they didn't make the playstation, Nintendo would still own the world!!!!!

Nintendo is getting it back, however! Mario Kart: Double Dash is almost as for as the original for the SNES!!!

No, the Genesis took CD's too. They made an add-on for it and there were plenty of CD games on the market. Almost everything we use in video games today (among other things), Sega made first. Sucks that they did so horribly in the American market.

Sega sucked altogether. If you look at Lunar on Sega CD and compare it to it's playstation counterpart...
Yeah. And it gets even more stomped when you compare it to the GBA version. Better longer plot more enimies charcters. Luna dos'nt leave. AND GRAPHICS! Don't EVEN get me started their.

No graphics starting here. Genesis isn't THAT bad a system, just most others are better. Cripes, I'm ashamed, once I become rich off being a software designer, I should get a PS2 for 3 reasons only, MegamanX, FinalFantasy and Marvel vs Capcom 2(GCN doesn't have it, it's the only good game for XBox[with a hard drive])

How can you say Sega sucks based on that? When Nintendo had an 8-bit gaming system (NES), Sega had a 16-bit gaming system (Genesis). When Nintendo had a 16-bit gaming system (SNES), Sega had a 32-bit gaming system (X32). Sega was always one step ahead of Nintendo. Sega even had a VR gaming system before Nintendo ever made Virtual Boy. Sega had online gaming back when they had Genesis! Nintendo had it afterwards for the SNES. Both failed, but now look at how popular online gaming has become. Sega was way ahead of it's time. Sega CD came out when the Genesis was around. Now all gaming systems use CD's. And that was long before the PlayStation (which if anyone doesn't know, was actually Nintendo's product first). So how can you even compare them like that? Does this mean the SNES sucks because Chrono Trigger had animation in it's PlayStation version, but the SNES version didn't?

And no, I'm not obsessed with Sega, but I feel they should actually be credited for everything they've done and not looked down upon.

Hey, I like Sega bery much, they WERE always one step after Nintendo, but I like Nintendo's games better. I do however have one cool game for my Genesis, Megaman: The Wily Wars. Anybody who doesn't like Sega only hasn't played it enough, or played it too much.

Yes, Sega was good for it's time, but is failing now. Dreamcast was it's fall, nobody(nor me) liked it, it was wierd, had odd controllers, and not many good games, which is a shame. However now Sega is for the most part with Nintendo, and I'm glad for that. It's given both Sega and Nintendo an adventage in sales.

I love old skool gaming. It's where everything started, without Mario there wouldn't be a Jak and Daxter. Without Kirby there wouldn't be a jigglypuff. Without Link there would be no Tenshu. and without Final Fantasy there wouldn't have been a FF2, FF3, FF4, FF5, FF6, FF7, FF8, FF8, FF10, FF10-2, and FF11. I still love the new games too and all the nice features. Sure, cell shading is cool in Sly Cooper, but it still has the basic platformer concept like in Super Mario. Bros. Well, my rant is done, all I can say is....w00t. w00t for the Old games, and God Bless games like Animal Crossing that brings back great games like Punchout! I still remember taking my NES to my cousin's house and watching him beat the living hell out of the India dude, the one with the Tiger robe and the jewel and has the magic punch? I think I'll go find a ROM of that. I have the game....just no NES.

WOW, that was quite a post, but to stay on topic, I also like old games, like ff3, but for the SNES, the one for the NES is OK, but I don't like the idea of an iognon kid, what the hell kind of a name is that, but FF1, FF2, and FF3 for the NES are still OK, and as for the genesis, it love it, it's graphich were awesome for it's time, I remember playing an X-men game for it, it rocked.

But on the other hand, I also agree with Talon, the dreamcast was the downfall of the sega consoles, no offence to dustminion, but I think that the dreamcast and only the dreamcast from the sega consoles sucks ass. I liked the handheld sega the most though, i thought it rocked, never had one myself, but my friend did, and I only played it once, but it only took one try to make me like it.

even though this is getting off topic again,
i think that old is better, the new have mistakes but they are learning from there mistakes so the new just maybe better than the old someday, doubt it though (just cant beat an 8-bit mario game) and also now they are starting to make the same games better, or at least trying.

i never liked sega they may have been better then intendo at the time but what good i it if they dont make good games as for old games the only kinds i like are the rpg's the rest are just not really worth playing exept for some of the fighting games

new ones:they can be really good but then again they can be really bad
compare n64 paperboy graphics to n64 podracers
i'll have to say i stuck true with nintendo until they made game cube then i was just disapointed for 1 they killed a tradition in putting nintendo in the name and 2 the early games were short and 3rd the controls break to easy so it was then i moved to playstation2

Argh, from Nintendo to PS2, I shall smite you, nah, can't. Nintendo is the best, PS2 is the worst of the 3 newest systems, even if it has Megaman and Final Fantasy written all over it! I personally LIKE Gamecube better than anything, nothing I repeat nothing beats Super Smash Bros Melee EXCEPT Marvel vs Capcom 2, which is only....for PS2 and......XBox dang nabbit there goes my argument! Still, MvsC2, SSBM and Soul Calibur II(Gamecube only) are the best 3 games out there, in that order. Now if they were to make a Nintendo vs Capcom, I would literally enslave myself to Nintendo, because that game would ROCK! The ultimate 3 person team, Link Roll and Protoman, or Zero Link and Sword Kirby!

I believe that Link, Mario, and Sonic would be the best team combination ever. Now, Sonic isn't really Nintendo, but still, we've got some sonic games...

Anyways, yes, Sega has been a step ahead of Nintendo, but they lacked one thing: Previous system support.

Once they had a new system out, they would suddenly abandon the old one, angering gamers...

That is a large reason why Sega fell...

If only Sony has stayed with Nintendo!!!! That would of been awesome, oh well.
I smile because I have no idea what's going on. :D

The GCN was the most sold console last year (2003)... People are still buying it.

Nintendo says that a new handheld system is going to be released, it will have 2 screens, one for far-away action and one for close action or whatever...

Ok, I've had this thought for a looong time, and I finally want to get it off my chest.

What it the world is up with "so and so system sucks" or "so and so system is better than that system". It's stupid! A game SYSTEM isn't stupid, it is in the game, NOT the system. There is really no reason to have a favorite system (unless it has the most of your favorite games on it).
After all, It doesn't matter at all what the system is like to have a good game. I bet some of those crazy PS2 fanboys were die-hard Zelda fans before playstation, or xbox, or n64, or all a that.
My point is, If someone who said they hated a certain system, but went out and bought one, I'm sure they could at least find one game they would like. So, before you gripe about a system, find a game that you may like for it and You may end up thinking differently.
So, here's My saying for the day:
It's not in the system; it's in the game.
