Bah I had Superkoopas problem but with my supreme computer skills hacked the password and gained access. Now I live with Dad so I can be on whenever. But on topic, this chatroom isn't what the other one was at all, I liked the other better but at least it's something

I know you all probably miss the other chat room, but until I can make it more server friendly, you're going to have to deal with this one. I figured it's better than nothing. Unfortunately I can't edit it at all (can't even change the coloring or anything like that).

Ah, no! It suddenly stopped working for me, period! At school and home. I'm too pure to be cursed! Oh well, I never used it anyways, but that's only because no one else COULD. It was still fun while people were on.

The chat room seems to take several minutes to load up before it actually starts to work. If the problem is the chat just isn't displaying anything in it, then the solution is to wait.

But it says

'Action Canceled, hit refresh'

The link to the chat room seems to be broken. Try finding another chat program, or repair the link.

Now the window for the chat room won't work at all. Not only that, but when I try to open it, it freezes up my window so I have to close out. Very odd. Very odd inded.

I don't use the chat room for that very reason, because it mess up to much, I think it should be redone and have all the bugs worked out, but at least we have a chat room to talk in.

It's not anybody's fault if the chatroom won't work, heck it doesn't for me(As Talon would say, Me as in I). My school computers have filters that only let me on the forum of LAF, not the Comic Section, but the guest comics....hm.

The LAF chat room works perfectly fine for me. I haven't had any problems with it. I don't know what I'm doing that the rest of you aren't.

I can think of a few things that might be a problem:
Having a non-broadband connection.
Having a parental control program installed.
Using a nonstandard browser.
Being impatient and leaving faster then it can load.

I use Sympatico High Speed. Could this be a problem, because I don't have any of the others.

It's rather disgusting that the most likely reason the chat doesn't work for me is that I don't want to spend 50$ a month for broadband. :\

I've always assumed that Broadband is just DSL. It's a rather small area, so there's only one cable company, that being the spawn of Satan Comcast. I'm not sure if they still call it broadband, or if that was the company before them, but it's still the term I use.

Last time I got a paper in the mail about it, it was free installation and either 20$ or 30$ a month for 6 months, then 50$ a month for every month after that. I'm not paying that much for the stinkin' internet, especially not with my POS computer. It's five years old. <3.

Broadband actually means a broad amount of frequencies (data) can be send through a connection (band) at once. Cable and DSL are both broadband. This makes it much faster than narrowband (phone modem) which is much more limited.

My computer is 5 years old too. Your computer (unless it's a 10+ year old PC with DOS) doesn't really effect your connection. You could have a computer that can only run Windows 95 and still have something load as fast as a brand new top-of-the-line computer today.

Wish I could believe you Wolfenhex, but the high-speed internet/ass computer theory, bad computer still means bad connection.

Not only do I have a 166Mhz computer that's internet connection is perfectly fine but I also have a 25Mhz (yes 25Mhz - over 10 years old!) that was perfectly fine too. Neither I use though for software reasons. I do have a 500Mhz Celeron though which runs fine too with a broadband connection. I usually get between 500-800kbps (sometimes even higher) with it.

Brand new computers of today use the same hardware for their internet connections that they did 5+ years ago with barely any changes (if any). It's a completely seperate component, like the hard drive or CD-ROM, and makes no difference how good the computer it's hooked up to is.

Well then you've got the right hardware Wolfenhex. My old computers, 133MHz and 256MHz, with high speed, it was like my 600MHz computer usign dial-up. Meh, my computer now is only 380(ish) and it's high speed, good computer though. Then again, my dad has completely redone it, 256Mb RAM, 32-bit graphics, 380MHz, awesome sound card...

Wolfenhex, it's not about the speed, it's about what I can do with it. I'd like to download music, and my hardrive's basically full. My mom owns the computer, and she won't let it be opened up to add more hardware. So I'd just end up doing the same things I do now, but faster. Dial-up's not that slow to me.
