I was wondering why for the comics, some have an orange background and some have green for the archive table thing. Don't really have any ideas meself. I've read 'em all, so I don't think it has anything to do with what's been read and not. Maybe they're divided by who made them?

I've been wondering that myself. Maybe important ones are green? I'm confused. :S

Ditto to Cat and Dusty, not a clue. Maybe just for the heck of it.

All prime numbers are mark by the green colour. All composite numbers are orange.
Time is a fickle thing.

You feel the good times will always last.
Then suddenly they're in the past.
Then you realize that you have,
Nothing.

You're close, el guerrero oscuro. But 1 is a composite number. It's in every single number.

Dust, one's not composite. Composite means it has factors other than itself and one. ex. Eight's a composite number because it has factors of four and two. One's prime 'cause only one times itself can make one.

So I think we've got our answer. w00t.

Sorry, guys. One is not a prime number. Here's a very quick, very basic reason for why it is nonprime.

The easiest way of putting it is, the definition of a prime number. Primes are defined as: "An integer greater than one is called a prime number if its only positive divisors (factors) are one and itself."

Another easy way is with an alternate definition of prime numbers. Firt, remember, 1 is a special number... namely, 1 is a Unit. The alternate definition here is "An element p of the ring D, nonzero and not a unit, is called prime if it can not be decomposed into factors p=ab, neither of which is a unit in D." There is, of course, a lot more to it than this, but you know, I don't want to bore people too much, or label myself a math geek too strongly.

So, um, yeah, 1 isn't prime. As to why Hex has 1 highlighted as prime, um, it was probably just a bug in the isPrime function he wrote and hasn't dealt with it (or maybe wont, he likes to do that sorta unprecedented stuff...).

So 1 isn't prime OR composite? Or is it composite but not prime?

1 is a Unit, not a Prime, and not a Composite.

BTW, here's a good def of a Composite number:
"A composite number is a positive integer n which can be factored into smaller positive integers (n=ab), neither of which is one"

Ah. I gotcha. So we were right about the not-being-prime part, but I was wrong about the being-composite part.

I still believe it's prime, but all you've said makes enough sense for me to say '1 is a special kind of number'.

After all TheHobbit told you, you still believe it's prime? IT'S A UNIT. THAT'S FINAL.

Yes, Cat. We Green 1 Up Mushrooms are oppressive over the backward Orange Super Mushrooms for very good reasons. Notice how even the Lesser Hero Mario devours them more often then the superior genus, who pay their protection tax on time and quite bountifully.
