| Ok, I am waaaaaaaay under the educational knowledge to begin learning about this stuff.(I am in 7th grade). But This concept I find very interesting. If anyone knows about it, could they please outline it for me? | ||||||

| There's three major divisions of his physics. One was the regular division of a plane (tesselations), and... um... I forget the others, but ask about one of his pictures and I might be able to help. By the way, just because you're in grade seven doesn't mean that you're undereducated to learn about this stuff =P Go ahead and have fun with it. You'd probably have to wait until university to get the "right" amount of education, but you can probably pick up a book on Escher and it wouldn't be too hard to understand if you take it one piece at a time. | ||||||

| Escher was the guy who did all those pictures of impossible things, like the endless staircase and the impossible triangle and whatnot, and some tesselations like the one of geese flying. | ||||||

| hm. Well, it still is a very very very interesting topic in my opinion. There is this one game where I downloaded a level called 'escher land' and it was really cool, it had all sorts of those portraits on the walls and there was this big staircase and when you went up it you would end up in this shaft that would continue leading up and up and up, when you came out into the floor of the room you started in. it is really cool. There is also two doors on either side of the main room were if you went in the right one, you would end up in a new room, but it is actually the same room because you came out the one to the left. So you could be chasing yourself for hours without realizing it is you, or you could even shoot yourself because you could see yourself in the very next room. It's really just kind of creepy, but I think it is very interesting and would like to find out as much about it as possible. | ||||||

| Wow. I did a bunch of research on the web. I never have had a favorite artist- so nows the time to start. M.C. Escher is the best artist ever! I mean seriously, his art defys Physics... as we know them- hence the name 'escher physics'. Stair cases leading to nowhere, A man looking at himself looking at a picture in a building.... I tell ya, this is my kind of art. The kind that is... Impossible until you actually see it. | ||||||

| One interesting thing about Escher is that he said he himself he was not an artist. The question is if his stuff is art or exploring mathematics/physics/reality in visual form. I personally am undecided as to whether or not he was an artist, but I certainly believe his work is important and should be preserved. His is unique and can't be repeated. | ||||||
