Ok, here's a list of really good authors and the books I've read from them. The reason, btw, this is being posted, is Me!'s post reminded me that we actually have a Books section (See, so little posting goes on in here, that I forgot all about it...)

Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time series, reading the latest one right now. they start dropping a bit around book 5-6, but it's still kinda good. Big books, each one ranging from 600-1000 pages, and he's on number 11 now I think).

Michael Stackpole, famous for the Rogue Squadron/X-Wing series. I really enjoyed his book "I, Jedi"

Douglas Adams. If you don't know, you don't deserve to call yourself a geek, a sci-fi fan, or a literary fan of any sort. An awsome sci-fi comedy writer, he's written the radio, tv, and book series of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (I've read them all and listened to a couple radio shows). he's also written great books like The Long Dark Tea-time Of The Soul (about a woman who goes into a coma and finds doorways in her mind, each leading to a memory, except... remember how they say you only use 10% of your brain? Well, 90% of the doors led to penguins....!) Another great one is Dirk Gentley's Holistic Detective Agency (I don't know how to explain it, but it's great, and very funny.)

Timothy Zahn. Awsome writer of what is almost unquestioningly the best of the Star Wars books - The Hand of Thrawn duology and the Thrawn trilogy.

J.R.R. Tolkien. If you don't know who he is, you should be shot in the foot for your ignorance. If you haven't read his books (at least, LotR and The Hobbit), you should be forced to experience the Total Perspective Vortex (see Douglas Adams, Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy, you cretin).

Watch out, a psycho hobbit has gotten loose and is terrorizing the populace! Be very wary of him: He is to be considered armed and very dangerous! ::A cute, 3', red-faced, curly-brown-haired, and obviously well-fed hobbit wanders down the street...::
