So which came first? Secret of Mana or Seiken Densetsu 3?
It would appear to me, personally, that Secret of Mana predates the happenings of SD3. If you would look at the dragon Flammie, there is only one in SD3 while there are many flying overhead in SoM. Apparently the climate changed, killing all of them off but one Flammie.
One cannot really use the argument that Just because the Mana Sword was found in a rock instead of a tree, that SoM is second because the reason the sword is in the rock is because of the tree's death. But was not the sword Destroyed at the end of SD3? The lack of save point Statues across the land also raises an eyebrow about its chronology. The faery said somethings happening in 1,000 years. If 1,000 years passed, people would still remember that mana tree worshipping religion and the statues would still remain in SoM. But if SoM came first, it would make sense that the mana tree worship and the statues would not be around or fully developed till SD3.
