This isn't really a 'help' question, but... seems like it should be here. Why does the forum keep crashing? It seems like whenever I try to post here, everything since February's been deleted for no reason. I don't know much about these things, but... shouldn't this be fixable if it keeps happening? o.O

Mer. I found the answer in another thread, in somethin' posted by Sabin.

"You may be referring to the recent loss of posts that the Forum experienced. I will do my best to explain just what happened.

The Adventures of Link & Friends is currently hosted on a rather volitile and unreliable server. Given that Link And Friends receives a high volume of traffic, this complicates the problem.

Occasionally, the Forum Database is lost, because of a glitch in the Web Host's file-writing process. In turn, all of the information in the LAF Database was lost. Wolfenhex was forced to upload a backed up copy of the database to the server. Unfortunately, this backup was a few days old, so some recent posts vanished.

The lost posts cannot be recovered. However, things are in the works to minimize future problems, and hopefully prevent them altogether. On behalf of Wolfenhex, Charybdis, The Adventures of Link & Friends, and the crappy host upon which this site is hosted, I apologize for any inconvenience that this issue has caused.

P.S. The best way to correct the server's problems is to move to a new, better host. Preferrably, a premium host with redundant or dedicated servers. If you would like to contribute to this noble cause, please click the "Donate" link just below the Forum link on the left. "
